Sunday Sketch #13 at 365 Cards

Okay - I'm laughing at myself right now, because I realized that on my last post I said "back tomorrow with another card", and I totally lied! I make a lot more cards than I actually post, so I need to get on that, don't I?

I'm pleased with my card from this week's sketch, but I almost forgot to take the picture yesterday, so I zipped outside to grab the last bit of daylight and it was still too dark. Ah well, maybe I'll do a re-take.

For now, here's the sketch and my card:

I totally flip-flopped it, but you can still see the sketch in this card. I hope to do some blog-hopping this week and join in on some more sketch challenges, but I don't promise ;)

Have a Grape Day!

It's Memorial Day here in the US, and I am taking the day to work....ah well, I will be grilling with my hubby and daughters later.
For now, I am enjoying working with Regina's wonderful printable images from the Cutting Cafe. I especially love how my Copics work with the images. Today's challenge at 365 Cards is to use purple and at least 5 circles. That's easy to do with the grape image:

I really need to build up my supply of Copics - I was fortunate to have two coordinating purple colors, but only one green :( I'm loving the Atyou Spicas - they add such a nice glittery touch. I tried to get a photo of the image glistening in the sun to give you an idea of how it looks:

I went back over the green glittery spots with my green marker, and oops - strayed outside the line, so the stem is not as I would like it to be, but I'm very pleased with the coloring of the grapes.
I hope you have a GRAPE day, and I'll be back again tomorrow with my take on the next fruity challenge!

Precious Baby Girls

Here is a card that I made for a friend, who is one of two friends who recently had baby girls.
I used a sketch from Laura at 2 Sketches 4 You. It's nice to be back home and scrapping. I have lots of cards to make, so this is the first of many this week!

Yesterday I spent the day in Portland, OR at a Copic certification class. I really enjoyed myself, learned some wonderful techniques, and have found myself hopelessly addicted to these markers!!

So here's my card for Laura's sketch, and I'll be posting another card soon~

I did a close-up of the pin, which I put together myself using several treasures I picked up at a Hobby Lobby in Illinois last week. If it hadn't been for the fact that I had to fly home and didn't have much room in my suitcase, I could've bought tons more. As it is, I have a small container full of beads and charms so that I can make more trinket pins.

365 Cards Sunday Sketch

Well it is Sunday, May 17th, which means I'm on my way home! I had a wonderful trip visiting family in the Midwest, but I really need to get back and get scrapping.

I'm super excited because I am attending a Copic Certification class in Portland this week - woo-hoo!! I love my Copic markers, and I really want to improve my skills and make better use of them.

So today we have another Sketch at 365 Cards, and here it is:

And my card:

Nice and simple - but I do believe the rest of the DT really did a wonderful job with this one, so head on over there and check it out (if you haven't already).

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you blogging moms out there - even if you don't celebrate Mother's Day today where you live, you still deserve to be acknowledged!

I am enjoying a day with my mom and my two little girls, and I feel truly blessed. I put together a little package of goodies for my mom:

LOVE YOU MOM!!!!

This one's for you, Mom!

This card fits 2 challenges. The first is this week's sketch by Laura, at 2 Sketches 4 You. The other is for the Mother's Day challenge I posted at 365 Cards. It is a Mother's Day card (although that is not a requirement), and that message is conveyed on the inside of the card. This was a challenge for me because it was intended to celebrate those amazing women in our lives. Ordinarily I would have chosen my mom or my best girlfriend. Instead, I made this card on behalf of my mom, who will give this to someone she knows (who I don't know all that well), and thus, it becomes a challenge for me :)

So here it is:

As for my dear mom, she will be getting a special card, of course, but I don't want her to see it here ;)

By the way, today's challenge does not have to be a Mother's Day card - think of it as an opportunity to celebrate a special woman in your life. So come on over and join in!

Also, I want to say a big THANK YOU to the lovely folks at Card Patterns, who included my card among the Top Five this week.

Happy Scrapping!

Sunday Sketch at 365 Cards

This is my card for the 365 cards Sunday sketch. I'm taking a little time this morning to sip on some coffee, blog hop and relax, because I'll be spending the afternoon cleaning and getting organized for a trip coming up later this week.

Here's the sketch, along with my card:

This one came together quickly. It's a 3x3, which is without a doubt my favorite size/shape to make. I can never have too many gift cards on hand.

Have a great week!
