Caardvarks - Hero Arts Challenge

This week at Caardvarks the sponsor is Hero Arts. I absolutely love their stamps, and they are giving away a fabulous prize, so hop on over there and check it out. The challenge is to create a card based on a sketch - and here is my card:

Patterned Paper: Making Memories (Chloe's Closet)
Embellishments: Offray ribbon, MM (Sabrina) Decadent Edge, Kaiser Scrapbook bling, Pebbles Inc. sticker
Sentiment: Computer generated
I just made an announcement over at 365 about my new card kits, which will become available beginning April 1st. I'm very excited to share these because I've put a lot of work into them, and they are designed especially for card makers. I will post the link to that blog on the 1st, so check back here or at 365 Cards for details. For one week, starting on the 1st, I will be giving away prizes in honor of the release of the April 2009 Mac Mae card kit - and that will also be on the 365 blog.

Sketch #5 at 365 Cards

This is another one of mine, and it looks like this:

And here's my card to go with it:

I have to say that I really enjoyed this one. It was another opportunity to work with my Cricut Wild Card cartridge, and I got some more use out of the October Afternoon papers that I adore working with. Have a great week!

Whew - I believe this is definitely getting in under the wire! So I will waste no more time introducing this card for the latest sketch at Card Patterns - a wonderful blog worth taking a moment to check out! I had an idea for this sketch all day, but only just now had a moment to sit down and complete my card.
Here it is:The majority of embellishments and paper are Making Memories. The sentiment is computer generated, and the bling is Kaiser Scrapbook. The card stock is shimmery, can you tell in this close-up? Have a great weekend, and I'll be back on Sunday to post my take on the latest sketch for 365 Cards!!

Sunday Sketch #4 at 365 Cards

Exciting things are happening at my challenge blog, 365 Cards! This week we revealed our first sponsor, Crop Stop, who will be sponsoring a special challenge this Friday. Not only are we seeing people who complete every challenge each week, but we're also seeing new card makers every day!! Even if you don't think you can fit in every challenge, it's worth stopping by, because you never know which challenges will most inspire you.

Every Sunday, we feature a sketch, and this is another one of mine:
It turns out that this card was super easy to make, and really took no time at all. I think this is a sketch I will use again and again.

Have a great week!

Two Cards

Over at 2 Sketches 4 You, Kazan has posted her 22nd sketch along with a Youth Art Challenge. This was a wonderful challenge that I could not pass up. In honor of Youth Art Month, my daughter, Paige, and I are submitting our cards for the 2nd category, since Paige is 5.

Before I share her card, I must tell you how excited Paige was to be included. I often share my scraps with her, but never do I turn her loose in my scraproom. Her eyes lit up when I told her that this was a special occasion, and she could use anything she wanted! Hers is not an interpretation of this week's sketch - it's simply what happens when a 5 year-old is free to create with a room full of paper, glue, and embellishments. And here it is:

My card is an interpretation of Kazan's sketch, and also my take on today's 365 challenge - Inside Out. I was super excited to try out the new Wild Card cartridge that I bought yesterday for my Cricut Expression. I can tell I'm going to get a lot of use out of it.
Thanks for stopping by!

Laura's Sketch 21 and 365 Festive Friday Combo

This was really a perfect combination for me - the color scheme was fun to work with, and the sketch made it easy to organize the various elements.

I even did some stamping on the inside:

I am such a fan of cards made from combined challenges, and I'm always happy when I'm able to do it myself. If you get a chance, check out the sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You, and the latest challenge at 365 Cards!

SNR Spring Fling Blog-a-Log

Welcome to my blog, where I primarily feature cards. I hope you are having a great time over at Scrapbook News and Review as we celebrate Spring! Don't forget the super fun crop planned for the 21st. And if you haven't been over to SNR yet, what are you waiting for - check it out!!!

So the project I want to share is a simple one, but that's exactly what I was going for. I wanted to make a beautiful and unique card, but one that I could make several of. Here is the card:

I used my Cricut Expression (Doodlecharm cartridge) to cut out two egg shapes. I decorated one of the eggs with lace paper from KI Memories and some jewels - that's it!! The beauty of this card is that it was super simple to make, but it looks like I put forth more effort than I did. I scored the decorated egg shape about 1/2 inch from the top to create a fold. Then I attached the two eggs above the score line to create a card.

Here's a close-up view:

365 Cards Sunday Sketch

I was thrilled when Kazan from 2S4U agreed to create a sketch for this week's challenge. I enjoyed working with it, and I'm very happy with how my card turned out.

I recently splurged and bought some Copic markers and some Spica glitter pens. So that's what I used on the cherry stamp from Studio g. I'm still learning and practicing, but I think I did alright for a Copic beginner. TFL and stop by 365 to give the sketch a try!

Kazan's Sketch 21 and 365 Cards Combo

Finally~ I had a chance to try out Kazan's latest sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You and I used the color scheme from an ad that 365 Cards DT member Kristie chose for last Wednesday's challenge. It has been such an amazing first week at 365 Cards.
Here's the ad:

This ad and Kazan's sketch were used to inspire this card:

If you haven't had a chance to pop over to 365 Cards yet, you should take a look, because there is a challenge there for everybody. We have some fabulous sponsors lined up and a guest sketch designer for this Sunday's sketch, and you won't want to miss it ;)
